So, you may be wondering What is RAM Memory and why should I upgrade?

If you are experience a slow computer, adding Random Access Memory (RAM) to your system is the most effective and least expensive way to make it run faster. RAM Memory is similar to an hard drive, but it is faster and temporarily stores information, instead of permanently. When a program is started, it is loaded from the Hard Drive into RAM. When the program is running in RAM, instead of directly from the Hard Drive, it can run hundreds to thousands of times faster. The problem with an insufficient amount of RAM, is that the capacity of a standard hard drive is many times the size of computer RAM size. What this means is that it is possible to load so many programs that the RAM cannot hold them. If that happens, your computer's virtual memory kicks in and you don't want that to happen. Virtual memory is your hard drive, trying to act like a RAM module. Hard drives are much slower than RAM memory and programs will begin to stutter or crash, simply because a hard drive was not designed to do that job. The solution to this problem is one of two. Either close out programs until the virtual memory is no longer needed, or add more RAM memory. Adding more RAM memory will allow you to keep more programs open at one time, it will speed up program launches and you will experience less system crashes.

The only thing that is needed is your specific model number of your computer. On most machines, this will be found on a service tag on the back of the computer. If your computer was Built to Order, bring in your motherboard model number and we will fix you up.
